Mobile, AL April 7, 2025: The Mobile Area Water & Sewer System has been awarded the title of "Best Tasting Drinking Water" by the Alabama/Mississippi Section of the American Water Works Association (AL/MS).
MAWSS also won the award for best-tasting water in 2023, the last time we entered the competition, which took place today at the annual convention of water professionals from Alabama and Mississippi, currently underway at the convention center downtown.
Water samples were scored on a scale of 1 to 10 by a panel of three judges in four categories: taste, odor, color, and clarity. This victory advances the Mobile Area Water & Sewer System to the “Best of the Best” Taste Test at the AWWA Annual Conference and Exposition in Denver, Colorado in June. There MAWSS will compete against water providers from the 43 other sections of AWWA.
AWWA is the largest organization of water professionals worldwide. AWWA represents drinking water utilities, water system operators and scientists, environmental and civil engineers, equipment suppliers, regulatory agency officials, and other professionals dedicated to protecting public health and providing safe and sufficient water for all.
