Water & Sewer Director
Bud McCrory is the Director of the Mobile Area Water and Sewer System which provides water and wastewater services to more than 100,000 customers across Mobile County.
He began his career with MAWSS 29 years ago as a summer worker before returning as a full-time employee in 1994. He has held several positions within MAWSS including Unskilled Laborer, Public Service Worker I and II, Crew Chief, Public Service Supervisor I, and Maintenance Management System Coordinator.
McCrory, in 2005, was hired as the Director of Satsuma Water and Sewer, where he remained for a decade. As the director in Satsuma, he led all duties of the utility. McCrory states, "This position taught me the many different aspects of a utility and provided meaningful experience, which is useful as I manage MAWSS."
As a recognized state leader in the water and wastewater industry, Alabama's Water Environment Association (AWEA) in 2020 selected McCrory as "Outstanding Public Official" for promoting sound water policy and substantially contributing to the water environment. He is Chair of Alabama's Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network (WARN), State representative for the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA), and an active member of the Water Environment Federation (WEF), Alabama Water and Wastewater Institute (AWWI), and the American Water Works Association (AWWA).
A native of Mobile, McCrory holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Faulkner University and a Master's in Business Administration from the University of South Alabama. He is also a certified operator in both water and wastewater for the State of Alabama and a faithful member of the Orchard Assembly of God. He and his wife, Danielle, of 25 years, share three children.
