Director of Planning and Market Development
Daryl Russell is the Director of Planning and Market Development for the Mobile Area Water and Sewer System (MAWSS) and is responsible for water and sewer system planning, growth, and expansion.
Russell began his career as a civil engineering co-op student intern in 1984 with Betz Converse & Murdock in their Mobile office, assisting with engineering projects for MAWSS. Since then, he has amassed over 39 years of experience in utility, municipal, and public works and site development engineering.
He served for over 20 years as an executive officer in local and international engineering firms charged with leading regional business operations, professional consultant services, and Civil Engineering Services. Prior to his acceptance of an executive position at MAWSS, Russell served as Vice President of Engineering for McCrory and Williams, Inc. for over 11 years.
A native of Daphne, Russell holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Auburn University and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Alabama. He has served as President of the local chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineering. He has also been active in other professional organizations, including Water Environment Federation (WEF), American Water Works Association AWWA, and the Alabama Water and Wastewater Institute (AWWI).
Russell has served as a council member for his church and has also served as a Board member and Representative for several community organizations. He has over 25 years of experience as a youth sports coach for football, basketball, and baseball in Mobile.
